Don’t build your ABM strategy based on your personal preferences.
It’s a mistake I see so many marketers making.
Just this week in a whatsapp group I’m in, lots of smart people were advising others to never cold call…because they don’t like receiving them.
But the evidence that cold calls work is undeniable.
Ditto with cold emails, LinkedIn outreach, ads etc. - they all work when done well and with empathy and understanding for your target audience.
It reminds me of an argument I had when leading growth at Eventbrite. I wanted to add pop-ups to the blog to capture more leads.
Others thought it was a bad idea because they wouldn’t respond to one.
I won, and we nearly 10x our conversions from the blog!
So the point of today’s newsletter is to let go of your ego, and remember you are not your target audience.
If you want long-term, sustainable success you have to know your audience.
Use real data, from running trials and campaigns, to make judgements on what will or won’t work.
