Why LinkedIn Might Be Your Most Underrated Marketing Channel

Hi ,

This week I wanted to share some really interesting findings from a pretty comprehensive study by Velocity Partners on the efficacy of LinkedIn versus owned newsletters to influence people's thinking.

Here's the key conclusion:

"First, our on-platform brand recall is higher than we thought — showing up on someone’s feed might not be as fleeting and transactional as we assumed.

Second, our LinkedIn audience are just as like-minded as our database (if not more so in most cases). They’re receptive to new thinking, open for debate and able to recall the source of ideas.

It’s given us more confidence in the efficacy of community-building on LinkedIn — and revealed that we need to adapt our own (typically slower-burn, blog-based) content strategy to compete in that space."

There's plenty of interesting nuance in the full write-up, but for me this reinforces that:

🐴 You can't be a one trick pony; you need to reach your TAM across both social networks and email

📣 Don't just focus on vanity metrics, that isn't an indicator of impact...engagement and influencing perspectives are far more powerful than reach alone

🤘 If you produce strong, thought-provoking content, a large % of your TAM are likely to be open to new ideas, which is an exciting and optimistic for anyone in marketing...you're not just shouting into an unreceptive void!

Have you found similar conclusions between your linkedin and your own database marketing?

Weekly quote to ponder

This week on Winning Clients, host Brian Ellington sits down with real estate leader Aaron Novello to unpack the powerful marketing strategies that helped him grow his business and attract top agents using StoryBrand and the interest graph. From telemarketing roots to mastering modern media, Aaron shares how a shift in storytelling — and platform strategy — transformed not only his career, but how others find success today.

In this episode, they get into:

✅ Why most agents are still stuck in the “social graph” and missing real opportunity
✅ How the StoryBrand framework can turn you from the hero into the guide clients actually need
✅ A blueprint for building an ecosystem of attention using short, medium, and long-form content

If you’re a real estate pro trying to scale your impact or break free from the lead-gen treadmill, this high-value conversation will change how you see marketing — and yourself.

If you'd like to discuss any of the areas I cover in this newsletter each week, from sales leadership to marketing strategy, cross-functional alignment to scaling high performance...I'd love to help!
